Manufacturing Week and Boeing Engineers

Manufacturing Week and Boeing Engineers

October 5th was Manufacturing Day which is a national day that celebrates and informs students of American manufacturing and its importance. Spark! Engineer participated in Manufacturing Day by touring three different manufacturing facilities around the St. Louis Region. I want to thank Seyer Industries, Cambridge Engineering and Western Wire Products Company. They all opened their doors to our students and show how technologically advanced modern manufacturing has become. As a prerequisite to the Cambridge Engineering visit we learned about lean manufacturing before visiting. Students were then able to see the lean manufacturing process in action. Below are a few resources if you would like to learn more about the companies we visited.

We also had a great networking event for students after school on October 10th. Twenty six of Boeing's Engineering Career Foundational Program employees visited our Spark! facility on October 10th from 3:30 - 5pm. These were younger engineers who discussed how students can prepare for and succeed in college when pursuing and engineering career. Students asked a lot of great questions during our panel session and during the networking time students were able to speak one on one with many young engineers. This was such a successful event and such a unique opportunity for our students I cannot thank the Boeing Company enough for this experience.
