SPARK! Engineering: Let's Get Started

First of all thank you for visiting the Parkway Spark! Engineering blog. I would like to introduce myself and briefly explain Spark! Engineering.

For the past five years I have been teaching technology and engineering at the middle school level in both the Lincoln County R-III School District and  the Parkway School District. In that time I have advocated for including real project based learning in the middle school tech ed classes and the Project Lead the Way curriculum. With that being said my students have been involved in robotics teams, engineering competitions, and community outreach all at the middle school level.

It is exciting for me to bring this mindset to our Parkway junior and senior Spark! Engineering students. Students will be fully immersed in a long term engineering design and development project which is certified through the Project Lead the Way national engineering curriculum. As a class we will reach out and network with local engineering companies. Additionally we will focus on career exploration as we tour and visit various engineering and manufacturing firms across our metro St. Louis area. Students will also be able to act on any job shadowing or career opportunities they find on their own through the Spark! Engineering program.
